Yumana Cabin Comparison & Deck Plan: Which of the 8 Cabins to Book
Yumana Liveaboard has eight cabins spread over three decks in five categories. The Royal Suite on the upper deck is the top berth — the only cabin with a private balcony and jacuzzi — while the two Superior Cabins are the value berths. Every cabin on board has a queen bed with an extra bed available, air conditioning and a private bathroom, so the choice is about deck position, view and space rather than comfort level.
Choosing a cabin on a phinisi is a different exercise from choosing a hotel room. On a 32-metre wooden liveaboard, deck height changes three things at once: how much the cabin moves in a swell, how much engine and anchor noise reaches you, and how much natural light and view you get. This page lays out all eight cabins so you can weigh those trade-offs before you pay for a view you will barely be in.
The full cabin comparison
| Category | Deck | Rooms | Bed configuration | Private bathroom | Air conditioning | View | Max guests | Shared rate pp |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Royal Suite Cabin | Upper | 1 | Queen, extra bed available | Yes | Yes | Private balcony | 2 + 2 | IDR 9,250,000 |
| Signature Cabin II & III | Upper | 2 | Queen, extra bed available | Yes | Yes | Ocean view | 3 | IDR 7,000,000 |
| Signature Cabin I | Main | 1 | Queen, extra bed available | Yes | Yes | Ocean view | 3 | IDR 6,750,000 |
| Deluxe Cabin | Lower | 2 | Queen, extra bed available | Yes | Yes | Ocean view | 3 | IDR 6,350,000 |
| Superior Cabin | Lower | 2 | Queen, extra bed available | Yes | Yes | Interior | 3 | IDR 5,000,000 |
That is eight rooms in total: one Royal Suite, two upper-deck Signature Cabins, one main-deck Signature Cabin, two Deluxe and two Superior. Together they sleep approximately sixteen guests in beds. The 25-person figure on our specification strip is the vessel’s total capacity, not the number of berths — a distinction worth holding on to when you are sizing a group.
Cabin by cabin
Royal Suite Cabin — upper deck
The signature room on Yumana and the only one with a private balcony and a jacuzzi. Queen bed, en-suite, air conditioning, and space that the other categories cannot match. It takes two guests comfortably with capacity for two additional beds, which makes it workable for a family of four who want to stay together. It is also the first cabin to go on peak-season dates. Book it as a Royal Suite on a shared departure or as part of a private trip.
Signature Cabins II & III — upper deck
Two ocean-view cabins high on the vessel, with queen beds, extra bed available, en-suite bathrooms and air conditioning. They get the best natural light on board and the quietest nights at anchor, and they sit far enough forward of the engine to stay comfortable under way. Available as a shared upper-deck Signature Cabin or on a private trip.
Signature Cabin I — main deck
Same specification, one deck lower, and priced a little below its upper-deck siblings. Being on the main deck means you step almost straight out to the sunbathing area and the dining room, which suits guests who dislike stairs at sea. It carries a minimum of two guests on shared departures. See the main-deck Signature Cabin shared rate or the private-trip version.
Deluxe Cabins — lower deck
Two ocean-view cabins on the lower deck, each with a queen bed, extra bed available, private bathroom and air conditioning. Being lower in the hull means noticeably less roll, which makes them the sensible choice for anyone prone to seasickness. Details on the Deluxe Cabin shared trip and private trip pages.
Superior Cabins — lower deck
The value berths on Yumana, and genuinely good value: a queen bed with an extra bed available, en-suite bathroom and air conditioning, in an interior configuration on the lower deck. If you plan to spend your daylight hours on the sky deck and in the water — which is what most guests actually do — the Superior does the job for the lowest rate on board. See Superior Cabin shared and Superior Cabin private.
Motion, noise and where to sleep
| Deck | Motion in swell | Engine and anchor noise | Light and view | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Upper (Royal Suite, Signature II & III) | Most noticeable | Lowest | Best | Good sea legs, honeymooners, light sleepers |
| Main (Signature I) | Moderate | Moderate | Good | Guests who want short walks to deck and dining |
| Lower (Deluxe, Superior) | Least | Highest under way | Limited | Seasickness-prone guests, value-focused travellers |
A practical note that no brochure prints: on a phinisi you feel the anchor chain. Anchoring and weighing anchor are audible on the lower deck, and they happen early. If you are a light sleeper, pay the upper-deck premium; if you are worried about your stomach, take the lower deck and sleep through the swell instead.
Matching cabin to traveller
- Honeymoon or anniversary: Royal Suite, for the balcony and jacuzzi, or an upper-deck Signature Cabin as the value alternative.
- Family of three: any category takes an extra bed at IDR 4,250,000; a Deluxe Cabin is the usual sweet spot.
- Family of four staying together: Royal Suite with two additional beds.
- Two friends splitting a room: Superior or Deluxe — both have a queen, so agree the sleeping arrangement in advance.
- Solo traveller: ask us about the current single arrangement on your date rather than assuming a supplement.
- Prone to seasickness: lower deck, every time.
Once you have a cabin in mind, match it to a trip length on the 3D2N open trip or the 4D3N full circuit, and check every cost line on the price list. To compare cabin classes across the fleet, our parent operator publishes the equivalent layouts for its other vessels.
