Anyone publishing a fixed 2027 Komodo calendar on a web page is publishing something that will be wrong within a fortnight. Cabins sell, groups take whole boats, and the schedule reshapes itself constantly through the peak months. What is genuinely useful is understanding how the schedule behaves — which months fill first, how far ahead you need to commit, and what the sea is doing when you want to sail. That is what this page gives you.

How departures work

Sailing season, month by month

Two things get repeated online that are worth correcting. First, boats do not stop sailing in the wet season — routes are weather-adjusted, not cancelled. Second, December to March is genuinely the best time for manta encounters in southern Komodo, so the “low season” label undersells it badly. There is also a reported daily visitor cap of around 1,000 people in core park zones from April 2026, which we describe as reported rather than as settled law; where it bites, it bites hardest in peak months, which is another argument for booking early.

How far ahead to book

• July to September: several months ahead. This window fills first and the Royal Suite goes earliest of all.
• April to June and October to November: four to eight weeks is usually comfortable for a single cabin.
• December to March: shorter notice often works, sometimes within a fortnight.
• Full-boat charters, any month: earlier than you think. Booking a whole vessel competes with every group enquiry across the same dates.
• School holidays and Indonesian public holidays: treat as peak regardless of month.

Holding a date, waitlists and changes

Send us your window and we check the live manifest. If a cabin is open we can hold it briefly while you confirm flights, and the booking becomes firm once the deposit clears and we issue written confirmation. If your preferred cabin is taken we will put you on a waitlist for that departure and, in parallel, show you the nearest date that does have your category open — most guests are more flexible on date than on cabin. Late availability does exist. Groups release cabins, plans change, and a boat that looked full six weeks out sometimes has a Deluxe cabin open ten days before sailing. If you are flexible, ask — it costs nothing.

Frequently asked questions

Why are exact departure dates not listed on this page?

Because they would be out of date within days. Cabins sell continuously, groups take whole boats, and a published calendar would send you to sailings that no longer exist. A one-line WhatsApp message gets you the real manifest in minutes.

What is the best month for a Komodo liveaboard?

July to September for the calmest sea and the best visibility, at peak prices and peak demand. April to June and October to November for close-to-peak conditions with more availability. December to March if manta rays are the priority and you can accept a reordered route.

Will a shared departure definitely sail?

Shared departures run to a minimum manifest. Most confirm well ahead; a quiet-season date occasionally does not reach the minimum, in which case we offer you the nearest confirmed sailing or a refund. We tell you at booking whether your date is already confirmed or still filling — we would rather you knew.

Can I book a last-minute trip?

Often yes, especially between December and March, and sometimes even in peak season when a group releases cabins. Ask rather than assuming the boat is full.

What happens if a trip is cancelled by weather?

Full weather cancellations are rare — Komodo weather usually closes individual anchorages rather than whole itineraries, so the captain reroutes. Where a departure genuinely cannot sail, we reschedule or refund according to the terms confirmed in your booking.

Can I change my dates after confirming?

Subject to availability and the reschedule terms in your booking confirmation. Earlier is always easier and cheaper. Message the reservations team as soon as you know something has moved rather than waiting.
