A liveaboard is a strange and very effective venue. Nobody can leave early, phone signal disappears for most of the day, and the entire group eats at the same table three times a day. For a company retreat that is a feature, not a problem — you get concentrated attention that no hotel ballroom will produce. For a family reunion it means three generations in the same place with nothing competing for their evening. This page covers what Yumana can actually host and what we need from you to price it.

What fits on board

Yumana is 32 metres by 6 metres over three decks, cruising at 7 to 10 knots, with 13,000 litres of fresh water and 8,000 litres of fuel aboard — enough autonomy to run a multi-night route without returning to port. Company offsites and team retreats

Two to four nights works best. The pattern that succeeds: a working session on the sky deck in the early morning while it is cool, activity blocks through the middle of the day, and the real conversations after dinner at anchor. Bring printed materials — connectivity is intermittent and you should plan for none. We will schedule the sailing legs around your session times rather than the other way round.

Milestone birthdays and anniversaries

The Royal Suite’s private balcony and jacuzzi is the obvious room for the person being celebrated. Cake, decoration and a specific dinner menu are arranged in advance with the galley; tell us at quote stage, not on boarding day, because provisioning happens ashore in Labuan Bajo.

Family reunions across generations

The main-deck Signature Cabin suits older family members who would rather not manage stairs at sea, the lower-deck Deluxe and Superior cabins are the steadiest for anyone prone to seasickness, and every cabin takes an extra bed for children. Shorter sailing legs and a calmer route can be built in for young children — ask, and the captain will plan for it.

Friends’ trips and celebration sailings

Eight cabins split neatly across a group of twelve to sixteen. Whole-boat hire removes the awkwardness of sharing decks with strangers on what is essentially a private party, and it lets you set your own hours.

Logistics we help with

• Flights. Several Indonesian carriers fly Denpasar to Labuan Bajo daily, roughly one hour to one hour fifteen. For groups, book everyone on the same inbound flight — chasing a late arrival costs the whole group its first stop.
• Transfers. Airport to harbour transfers arranged for the whole party, timed to boarding.
• A buffer night. For groups we strongly recommend arriving in Labuan Bajo the night before rather than flying in on boarding morning.
• Dietary requirements. Vegetarian, halal, allergies and intolerances handled — collected as one list at booking, not shouted at the chef on day one.
• Briefing schedule. Safety briefing on boarding, then activity briefings each evening for the following day.
• Park and government fees. From IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per day, with some routes issued as bundled tickets. For groups this is a real budget line — we confirm the current figure before you commit.

What we need to quote you

Six inputs, and we can turn a written quote around quickly:

1. Preferred dates, plus one alternative window.
2. Headcount, split into adults and children.
3. Number of nights, or a day charter if you are not staying aboard.
4. Diving, snorkelling, or both — and how many certified divers.
5. Anything the sailing has to accommodate: a celebration, a working session, a proposal, a photographer, mobility needs.
6. Whether you need us to handle flights, transfers and pre-night hotels.

We will not quote a group charter from a rate card, because season, nights, headcount and route each move the number materially. Frequently asked questions

What is the maximum group size on Yumana?

Approximately sixteen guests sleeping in the eight cabins, and 25 persons as the vessel’s total capacity for a day charter or non-overnight event. If your group is larger than sixteen overnight, we will propose a second vessel alongside rather than overloading this one.

Can you host a wedding or a proposal on board?

Proposals, vow renewals and celebration sailings around a wedding, yes — and they work beautifully at sunset on the sky deck. A full legal ceremony has its own Indonesian requirements that sit outside what a charter covers, so tell us early what you actually need and we will be straight about what is and is not possible.

Is there space to run a presentation or workshop?

The indoor lounge and dining room is the practical session space, with the sky deck as the open-air alternative in good weather. Assume no reliable internet and limited projection — groups that bring printed materials and run discussion-led sessions get far more out of it.

How do we handle payment for a group?

Almost always one payer for the charter, settled against a written quote with a deposit and a balance. Splitting a full-boat charter across sixteen individual payments is possible but slow; nominate one coordinator and it goes smoothly.

Can the route be adapted for young children or older guests?

Yes. Shorter sailing legs, calmer anchorages, skipping the pre-dawn Padar climb, and more beach time instead of current-exposed snorkel sites. Tell us the ages at quote stage and the captain plans around them.

What if one guest cancels close to departure?

On a full-boat charter the vessel price does not change when one person drops out, though provisioning and park fees adjust. On a shared departure a cancellation is handled per the terms confirmed at booking. Either way, travel insurance is worth having.
