What is the Komodo National Park entrance fee in 2027?

The most defensible figure right now is IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor, per day, flat — no weekday/weekend split. That is the number carried by the park-fee references most operators work from under the current national non-tax revenue schedule.

The honest complication is that this is not the only number you will find. Older pages still quote IDR 150,000 for weekdays and IDR 250,000 for weekends. Several liveaboard and day-trip operators sell an all-in route ticket in the region of IDR 650,000 per person that folds entrance, ranger and activity components into one line. All of these can be true at once, because they are describing different products at different points in time.

That is why we do not print a single hard number on your invoice months in advance. We tell you the band, we tell you what we expect to collect, and we confirm the exact figure close to departure.

Why do published fee figures disagree so much?

Add to that the separate small charges that appear at individual sites — ranger fees on the dragon trails, activity components for snorkelling or diving, and a per-vessel harbour element — and you can see how two travellers on the same route in the same week end up quoting different totals.

What about the cancelled IDR 3,750,000 scheme?

In 2022 a premium conservation-membership model was announced for Komodo and Padar islands at IDR 3,750,000 per person per year. It generated an enormous amount of coverage, a local tourism strike, and then it was cancelled. It is not in force. If a page is still quoting it as the price of visiting Komodo, that page has not been updated since 2022, and you should discount everything else on it too.

Is there a limit on how many people can enter?

There are reports of a cap of roughly 1,000 visitors per day in the core zones. We treat that as reported management practice rather than a published law you can plan around, and it matters mainly at one point: peak-season mornings at Padar. Practically, the way you protect yourself from crowd management is to be anchored inside the park overnight rather than arriving by day boat at 09:00 — which is exactly what a liveaboard does.

What does the fee actually buy?

• Entry to the park’s terrestrial and marine zones for the days you are inside it.
• Ranger accompaniment on the dragon trails at Loh Liang (Komodo Island) and Loh Buaya (Rinca) — you cannot walk those trails unaccompanied.
• Access to the anchorages and snorkel sites your itinerary uses, including Karang Makassar and Taka Makassar.
• A conservation contribution to a UNESCO World Heritage site that carries very real management costs.

Bring the fee amount in rupiah cash. Card facilities inside the park are unreliable and there is no ATM once you leave Labuan Bajo. Budget a little above the expected figure so a mid-trip adjustment does not become a problem.

Which days do you get charged for?

Charging follows the days you are physically inside the park boundary, not the number of nights your booking is called. On a 3D2N sailing you are typically inside the park for the two full middle-of-trip days plus part of a third. Rules that come with the ticket

The park is a working conservation area, and the rules are enforced by rangers rather than suggested. Stay with your ranger on the dragon trails. Keep the briefed distance from dragons and never step between one and cover. Do not touch or chase mantas or turtles. Take no sand, shells or coral — removing pink sand from Pantai Merah is specifically a problem, and it is checked. Reef-safe sunscreen is strongly preferred. Drones are restricted in places and you should ask the crew before launching one. These are also the park regulations we operate under as a licensed operator, so our crew will stop you doing something that would put the vessel’s permits at risk.
